Social Sketchers is for adults who have a little life experience. No hard age line, but we suggest 50(ish)+. It runs 55 minutes and incorporates basic drawing skills into applications you'll use in everyday life (making funny cartoons, connecting with kids/grandkids, vision casting for life and work, communicating your feelings, graphic journaling and much more). Draw Club sessions are grouped in four-week themes (see Monthly Themes below).

If you are unable to attend the live session any given week (or if you prefer the flexibility of video), there will be a recorded version of every lesson available after the live session is complete. The videos will stay on our YouTube channel for two weeks. During Studio Project week, you can use the guide video just like the live feed, so if you're in a group, you can still meet as a group and draw together.

CLASS STRUCTURE:
-4 minutes lesson focus, history and examples
-48 minutes step by step drawing (10 minutes on, 2 minute break repeated)
-4 minute evaluation

Suggested ages: 50+ with beginning to experienced drawing skills.

HOW SOCIAL SKETCHERS DRAW CLUB WORKS: Three sessions (per 4-week-theme) are live, step-by-step tutorials. The fourth session per month is recorded and can be viewed at your convenience. The recorded session is called Studio Project week. The Studio Project video is posted on YouTube, and outlines an exercise designed to give you freedom to explore, on your own, the techniques/styles we've been working on during the previous three weeks. There is also a step-by-step option within the Studio Project video if you want or need extra help applying your skills.

You will be sent a Zoom invite (new each week) to join the live Draw Club session and a JPG file(s) to print that will help you follow along on the lesson. Please provide an email address you check regularly during check out so you are sure to receive both the invite and the JPG files

For these sessions, you will need:
-A reliable internet connection.
•A monitor that can display the live Zoom session and the Studio Project video.
•To print the JPG template(s) you receive for the session.
•A pencil and an eraser (and a ruler occasionally).
•A pen (or preferably two) with indelible ink. One fine tip, and if possible, a second with a bit larger tip to fill in more area (which makes things quicker).
•Colored pencils, markers, or crayons...preferably with 2-3 of each color (ie. light green, medium green, dark green). Simple, low cost colors will work fine.
•A simple set of watercolor paints (only in August).
•A mirror (only in December). A photo/selfie can work for this.

Social Sketchers is great for living/retirement communities, church groups, arts councils, art therapy programs, and for any individual who always wanted to learn to draw, or who wants to maintain mental/motor dexterity in a fun way.
