LET THE ADVENTURES BEGIN! Get three months (Summer Semester) of our Story Sketchers Draw Club (LIVE, online) for your young aspiring graphic novelist ($40/camp x 3 Camps = $120 - for the whole household). This class draws a simple four-page graphic story every month and dives into different storytelling techniques and drawing styles. Story Sketchers is a fast-paced class and demands solid drawing ability. This is the best deal you'll find anywhere for an ongoing drawing class. Come join us! Wherever you are, we want to draw with you!
Draw Club can be even more awesome when you draw in groups...so if you have four or more students who want to meet up for class, the Group option at checkout is an unbelievable bargain.
Story Sketchers Draw Club runs 55 minutes and focuses on storytelling techniques...layout, camera angles, light and dark, drawing styles, etc. This is an in-depth and faster paced class than our other Draw Clubs...you need to have developed drawing skills or have taken our Super Sketchers 1 and 2 classes already. Story Sketchers Draw Club sessions are grouped in four-week projects (see Monthly Themes below).
Story Sketchers is great home school students, virtual students and independent/public school students looking for a regular art class to further develop their skills.
If you are unable to attend the live session (or if you prefer the flexibility of video), there will be a recorded version of every lesson available after the live session is complete. The videos will stay on our YouTube channel for two weeks.
CLASS STRUCTURE:
-4 minutes lesson focus, history and examples
-46 minutes step by step drawing (10 minutes on, 2 minute break repeated)
-5 minute evaluation
Suggested ages: 12-18 with high-intermediate to advanced drawing skills.
HOW STORY SKETCHERS DRAW CLUB WORKS: Three sessions (per 4-week-theme) are live, step-by-step tutorials where we draw a full page of a graphic story. And because students want time to their own creativity, the fourth session per month is recorded and can be viewed at their convenience. The recorded session is called Studio Project week. The Studio Project video is posted on YouTube, and outlines how to finish the graphic story while giving students freedom to explore, on their own, the techniques they've learned during the previous three weeks. There is also a step-by-step option within the Studio Project video if you want or need extra help applying finishing your story. The Studio Project video can be played like the live feed for students meeting in a group.
You will be sent a Zoom invite (new each week) to join the live Draw Club session and JPG files to print for students to follow along on the lesson. Please provide an email address you check regularly during check out so you are sure to receive both the invite and the JPG files.
For these sessions, you will need:
-A reliable internet connection.
•A screen that can display the live Zoom session and the Studio Project video.
•To print the JPG template(s) you receive for the session.
•A pencil and an eraser (and a ruler occasionally).
•A pen (or preferably two) with indelible ink. One fine tip, and if possible, a second with a bit larger tip to fill in more area (which makes things quicker).
•Colored pencils, markers, or crayons...preferably with 2-3 of each color (ie. light green, medium green, dark green). Simple, low cost colors will work fine.
•A mirror (used occasionally). A photo/selfie can work for this.
Classes are weekly during the school year:
Thursdays at 7:00-7:55PM
Classes during the summer months run as once-monthly four-day camps.
Summer Dates: June 22-25, July 13-16, August 10-13
